“A Lygon Street spot with cosy nooks, DJs on Fridays, a cute courtyard and the best cheese plate in Brunswick.

The heartiest cheese board our tums have ever been served. Squeeze through the front doors on a Tuesday and order the $30 special: five cheeses (ossau-iraty ewe's milk, roquefort ash-wrapped goat's, triple cream brie, washed rind taleggio, blue) served with a rustic pais-carignan blend fermented in a wooden pipeno. This place has so many nooks, that any comfort can be found — snuggle up in a leather booth in the front bar, or find a stool in the expansive courtyard out back. On Fridays the DJ decks come alive. For those looking to test their heckling and snookering prowess, there's a shed out back with pool table.”

“Few modern bars capture the glory and warmth of those of a bygone era, and none quite the way Atticus Finch idoes. Lygon Street in Brunswick has captured the attention of discerning bar goers and this is further fortified by this great bar and its old-world feel.

The detailed glass entrance gives way to cream walls, dark wood and soft lighting, which work together to create a warm and comfortable ambience. Bartenders stand at the library-esque bar, ready to inform you and your palate. It's easy to make yourself comfortable in the booths and whisk away the hours. Atticus also has a lovely decked courtyard out the back for when the weather is inviting.

Imbibers are rewarded handsomely with thoughtfully selected wine, beer and whisky lists that all represent a dedication to quality, balance and unique fare.

The food represents a judicious selection of classic continental fare – terrine rubbing shoulders with dolmades, cheese platters and jamon with relative ease. Simple expressions indeed, but a commitment to quality underlies all, meaning flavour is king here, in both liquid and solid forms.”
